Citi/AAdvantage offers Mastercards for every kind of traveler. Some cards fit people who fly often and spend a lot on travel. Others fit people who fly occasionally and don't want to pay an annual fee at all. Here's what each type of traveler gets.

For frequent travelers: Executive World Legend

For frequent travelers, we recommend the Citi/AAdvantage Executive World Legend Mastercard. The annual fee is $695. For that price, its biggest perk is Admirals Club membership, worth up to $1,400 a year. That's more than double the annual fee.

New cardholders can also earn 125,000 bonus miles. To get them, spend $15,000 in the first five months.

The card comes with more travel perks too. You get a free first checked bag on domestic flights, worth up to $900 a year. You also get up to $120 back every four years for Global Entry or TSA PreCheck.

Spending earns miles fast. You get four times the miles on American Airlines purchases and 12X miles on hotels and rental cars booked through AAdvantage eShopping. Everything else earns one mile. Each mile also earns one Loyalty Point, which speeds up the path to elite status.

Spend $150,000 in a year, and the American Airlines mile rate jumps from four times to five times for the rest of the year.

This card works best for people who fly often and use Admirals Club lounges regularly. The lounge access and free bag alone can be worth more than the $695 fee.

For everyday spenders: AAdvantage MileUp

For travelers who don't plan to spend much on travel each year, the AAdvantage MileUp Card might be a better choice. The best part is there's no annual fee, which makes it a better fit for travelers who don't spend $695 to $15,000 a year on one card.

New cardholders can earn 15,000 bonus miles. To get them, spend $500 in the first three months.

The card earns miles on things you already buy. You get twice the miles at grocery stores, including grocery delivery. You also get twice the miles on eligible American Airlines purchases. Everything else earns 1X miles.

On flights, you save 25% on food and drinks you buy in the air. Each eligible mile also earns one Loyalty Point, which counts toward elite status.

This card skips the extras like lounge access or checked bags. What it offers instead is no fee, real miles on groceries, and a discount in the air.

We've been using the app for a few years now, and we do recommend downloading it. You can find it for free on the App Store (iOS) or Google Play Store (Android). What makes it invaluable for your budget is how it delivers flash deals and last-minute fare drops directly to your phone.

You can also find and redeem discount codes in-app, which are usually available during peak seasons like the beginning of Spring or Summer. For this year, we enjoyed a code that gave up to $150 off Mexico and Europe flights! Beyond savings, they provide trip management features, too. It features a trip management tool that allows you to check into your stays and get mobile boarding passes. These are some of the reasons why we feel it is both a money-saving tool and travel companion.

Create a free AAdvantage account to get weekly emails about flight deals and more. To get started, go to AA.com and click "Join" at the top right side of the homepage. You'll navigate to an online form. Once there, enter your name, address, email address, and phone number. They'll email you a temporary password to finish setting up your profile.

When we created an account as a test, we didn't receive a new-member or first-order discount. But we did get an AAdvantage number right away. You enter that number when booking trips to start earning miles and Loyalty Points.

The online form includes a checked box labeled "Email AAdvantage promotions, vacation picks and flight deals." Leave it checked to receive those emails. Uncheck it if the AAdvantage account is all you want.

Active-duty military and dependents get several benefits from American Airlines, including priority boarding in Group 1, the same group as First and Business Class. On orders, they get five free checked bags up to 100 pounds each. On personal travel, they get three free bags up to 50 pounds each. This perk applies only to flights American Airlines markets and operates. American also offers government and military fares in some markets. Contact their Reservations team to confirm your eligibility.

American Airlines also partners with WeSalute+ (formerly Veterans Advantage) for vacation savings. Membership costs $9.99. That gets you 10% off the land portion of AA Vacations packages (hotels, rental cars, tours) at partners like Hilton, Marriott, and Hyatt. This doesn't cover flights, but it does stack with other promotions.

You can book through the WeSalute+ linked AA Vacations page, since booking by phone voids the discount. Members earn one AAdvantage mile per $1 spent on vacation packages, or five miles per $1 spent at Gold status and above. Other perks include $3000 in annual Travel Cash, 50% off Travel Protection Insurance and family memberships, and a prescription discount plan with a personal benefits specialist.

2. Locate the "Promo Code" field.

3. Type or paste the promo code into the field, then click "Apply."

4. Confirm the discount is applied, review the new total, and complete the reservation.
