Groupon Promo Codes + Cashback

Groupon+ is a free program that lets you earn up to 30% cash back at eligible restaurants. 

It essentially works like this:

1. Link your credit or debit card to your Groupon account

2. Find an eligible restaurant in the app

3. Claim the restaurant’s cash back offer

4. Eat at the restaurant in person

5. Pay for your meal using your linked card

Your cash back is automatically added to your card as a statement credit after you pay.

To get the best outcome, you should know that:

• Cash back offers expire 30 days after you claim them, and you can use them multiple times within that window (no stated limit).

• You can’t use cards already enrolled in other Rewards Network programs as they are not eligible.

• If paying with a debit card, you should select “Credit” at checkout since some debit transactions do not qualify.

• The cash back is calculated based on the total bill, including the tip.

Since Groupon+ pays out as a statement credit, you can double dip with the rewards from the credit card you use to pay. For instance, say your card earns rewards when used at restaurants. You can pair that credit card reward with the Groupon+ restaurant offer to get a combined return on the same bill.

Groupon gives you the opportunity to receive a 30% coupon when you join their email and text lists. You can choose to sign up for just their email notifications to get 25% off, but to get the full 30% you have to sign up for both.

When we joined for ourselves, this is what the process looked like:

1. Browse Groupon’s homepage and wait for the pop-up

2. Submit your email address in the first box they give you

3. Either submit your phone number in the next box (or click “No thanks, email only”(

4. Check your text messages for a new message asking you to confirm your SMS opt-in

5. Receive your full 30% off

After that, you can expect to receive promotional emails and text notifications about exclusive codes, sales, and suggestions based on experiences you’ve looked at while signed in. Regarding the exclusive codes, sometimes, you’ll get emails about codes for email subscribers only, and you must be signed in to use these offers.

When you download the Groupon app for the first time and sign in, they present you with an app-exclusive coupon for up to 30% off your purchase. On their app webpage, Groupon also claims their app has exclusive offers and prices that aren’t available on their website, but we’ve yet to encounter these.

Groupon’s Deal of the Day page highlights limited-time discounts that rotate daily, with discounts advertised as high as 90% off products, local experiences, and services.

One day in September 2026, we saw the page featured deals for:

• 89% off Microsoft Windows 11 Home Pro (originally listed at $99 and discounted to $11)

• 54% off Great Wolf Lodge Colorado Springs Water Park Resort (originally listed at $261 and discounted to $120.84/night)

• 35% off Regal movie tickets (originally listed at $21 and discounted to $13.74)

• 33% off Chuck E. Cheese (originally listed at $30 and discounted to $20)

• 20% off admission to Colorado Gators Reptile Park (originally listed at $30 and discounted to $24)

Some of these deals were also eligible for an additional discount with a promo code that was active at the time.

Groupon often promotes multiple promo codes at a time. It’s easy to tell which promo code a deal is eligible for because Groupon will add the deal’s new price with the applicable code in purple text beneath the deal’s original price.

How to apply a promo code:

1. Add a deal to your cart

2. Go to checkout

3. Find the “Enter Promo Code” section under your cart items

4. Click the section to reveal the text entry box

5. Paste the code and click “Apply”

If the promo code box is grayed out, do these quick troubleshooting checks:

• Look under the deal price for purple text that shows which coupon applies and what the discounted price will be.

• Make sure you’re signed in, as some codes require a specific account status, like new customer or email subscriber.

• Double-check the expiration date because sometimes Groupon extends or cuts it short without notice

Most Groupon promo code errors happen because the offer only applies to eligible deals or may be restricted by user. The fastest way to avoid checkout issues is to be signed in and confirm eligibility on the deal page before you try to apply a code.
