How I managed to save $300 on Mother's Day gifts for the most important women in my life

As a Coupons.com insider, I saved $300+ on Mother's Day gifts this year. Here are my proven strategies for finding amazing deals on thoughtful presents.

Mother’s Day is a busy time in my household. As a mom myself, I look forward to being celebrated, but my holiday planning also includes finding the perfect gifts for my own mother, mother-in-law, and my two sisters. Balancing a budget for four different women with unique tastes requires a clear strategy — one where timing and the available discounts play a big role.

This year, I really feel like I nailed it. And as the proud (weeks-early!) purchaser of four unique and thoughtful Mother’s Day gifts that I saved over $300 on, I am laying out my tips and tricks to help you make the most of your gift budget as well.

Recipient no. 1: My younger sister

Sending flowers to my younger sister is a Mother's Day tradition; she absolutely lights up when that delivery arrives. Her favorite color is purple, so this year I went on a mission to find the perfect lavender bouquet and compared similar arrangements from From You Flowers and 1-800 Flowers.

Both are offering 20% off sitewide with a code and have tons of beautiful options in various sizes, which is great when you're trying to keep things budget-friendly. Plus, they have same-day delivery options for those "oh no, it's tomorrow" moments.

After testing promo codes on both sites, From You Flowers came in cheaper (for what looked like a more robust bouquet). Stacked with the 8% cashback I found on our site, it was a no-brainer. I saved $17.15 with the code and cashback combo. Remember to always do the full math before making a decision!

Recipient no. 2: My older sister

For my older sister, I wanted to send her a Mother’s Day treat that was a bit more on the indulgent side. I started by browsing Edible Arrangements, which offers so much more than just their famous fruit bouquets. There’s a wide assortment of chocolates, cookies, and gift set collections. As a chocolate lover, I go for the Chocolate Dipped Indulgence Platter every. Single. Time. Paired with a $10 off coupon and 5% cashback, it’s a very tempting and budget-friendly choice.

But, I remembered I’m on a mission, shopping for others (stay focused, Amy). With that in mind, another family favorite pops into my head — The Popcorn Factory. Before getting sidetracked by the sweet and savory combo that always calls my name (I will have both the caramel and habanero please. Don't make me choose!), I checked to see what savings opportunities were available and could get me the best deal.

Our page is currently running a promo code for 20% off when you spend $30+ on Mother’s Day and spring tins, plus an extra 6% in cashback savings, so I narrowed my focus on what that code would apply toward. With $11 in total code + cashback savings, I went ahead and sent the Mother’s Day Bouquet 2 Gallon / 3 Flavor Popcorn Tin to my older sister. She’ll love sharing this with her girls over movie night.

Recipient no. 3: My mother-in-law

My mother-in-law really loves her bling, and while I’d like to add to her jewelry collection more often, it’s not always in the budget to do so. However, I wanted to see what I could find this year, so I started by poking around at Swarovski.

They have a beautiful Mother's Day gift guide with stunning pieces and collectibles under $200 (I’m adding the adorable Bee charm to my wish list). With an additional 8% cashback, it’s a great option, but I didn't find anything exactly right for her.

Moving on to something more classic, I came across a Mother’s Day sale at Zales. A timeless necklace or a pair of earrings she'll wear every day is a fantastic option for my mother-in-law. I found a pair of diamond studs that are currently $200 off, add them to my cart, and activate 4% cashback for an extra $12 off for a total of $212 in savings. An incredible deal! Whether it's a delicate pendant for your mom or a birthstone piece, that kind of discount on fine jewelry adds up very fast.

Recipient no. 4: My mom

Why is shopping for the people closest to you sometimes the hardest? After hitting a wall for my own mother for a bit, I decided to take an idea from my own wish list: luxe pajamas. Nothing says "I love you, now go relax" quite like a beautiful PJ set.

I knew Woman Within was running a huge 50% off sale, so I browsed their comfy set options, but decided to go with something more luxe from Soma, which was an easier sell given their 30% off sale for the holiday. Their fabrics are buttery soft, and every mom deserves to feel a little pampered, even if it's just a random Tuesday night on the couch. One of their lightweight summer sets is on its way to her — and $20 remains in my wallet by shopping the sale!

Bonus recipient no. 5: My best friend

What can I say — I was on a generosity roll and decided to keep spreading the love to the moms in my life. And is it possible I saved the best for last? My bestie has a robust candle collection, so knowing what to shop for her was easy. I stumbled upon a tried-and-true budget favorite, Yankee Candle, and snagged two of her favorite scents at 40% off, Honeysuckle Grove and Lush Gardenia. With the 5% cashback I found, I saved $58 all in. I couldn’t believe it.

At the end of the day, Mother's Day isn't about finding the most expensive gift or putting together the most elaborate surprise. It's about making the women in your life feel seen and appreciated, and that doesn't have to come with a hefty price tag. With a little planning, some early browsing, and the right combination of deals and cashback offers, I was able to give thoughtful, personal gifts to every woman on my list without the financial stress that used to come with it. Start early, stack those savings, and remember — the best gift is one that shows you actually thought about her. Happy Mother's Day to all the moms out there. We deserve it!
