J. Jill charges the same price across sizes, so an XS and a 4X carry the same tag on the same item. They launched this approach through their Welcome Everybody initiative in August 2022 and merged straight-size and plus-size inventory so everything sits together under one pricing structure.

This matters for plus-size shoppers because clothing costs more to make in larger sizes, but J. Jill doesn’t add a checkout premium. Instead, they spread that extra material cost across all sizes through cost averaging. Savings come from avoiding the $2 to $10 upcharges or higher markups that show up elsewhere.

J. Jill puts “40% off” on the homepage almost every month, but it usually comes with limits. The most common version is “extra 40% off sale,” which takes an extra 40% off items that already have markdowns on the sale page, not new arrivals. J. Jill also does category promos, like 40% off select full-priced tees, jeans, or tops, while the rest of the site stays full price.

But Black Friday, Cyber Monday, and late-December events stand out because J. Jill drops those category limits. Those holiday periods are when the brand typically offers 40% off an entire purchase across the site, including brand-new, full-priced arrivals.

J. Jill accepts returns and exchanges on unused, unworn, undamaged, or defective items within 60 days of the in-store purchase date or the order shipment date. Final Sale items can’t be returned or exchanged, and they don’t qualify for price adjustments.

In-store returns are free for items bought in-store, online, or by phone. Bring the item plus your receipt, packing slip, or order confirmation email, and the card used for purchase. Mail returns go through the online return portal, where you can print a prepaid USPS label or use a QR code for a printerless label. Using the prepaid label triggers an $8.95 processing fee that comes out of the refund.

When you have the original receipt, refunds go back to the original payment method. Gift card payments, gift returns, and merchandise-credit purchases are refunded as merchandise credit. Without a receipt, J. Jill can issue a one-time exchange or a merchandise credit at the selling price. Exchanges happen in store or by calling 1-800-343-5700, and J.
