With their Price Match Policy, HP will match prices on comparable PCs and identical printers, displays, and accessories.
To be eligible, the product you’re comparing must be from a major online retailer like Dell, Amazon, or Best Buy. You must request the price match before purchasing. HP can't do price adjustments for competitor orders.
For printers and accessories, model numbers must be identical. For PCs, model numbers can differ, but all specifications and features must match exactly, including:
Screen size
Operating system
Processor
Memory
Hard drive
Graphics card
HP only considers PCs comparable when they're manufactured by Dell, Lenovo, Toshiba, Samsung, or HP.
Let’s say you find an HP laptop you want to buy listed at $899. Before you purchase, you find a Dell laptop at Best Buy for $799 with the exact same specs: 16-inch display, Windows 11 Home, Intel Core Ultra 5 processor, 16GB memory, 512GB SSD, and Intel Arc graphics. Since the specs match exactly and Dell is one of the manufacturers HP recognizes for PC price matching, you can request HP match the $799 price before completing your purchase.
The process takes real effort, so it's worth doing the math first. For a $400 gap on a laptop, going through the steps below makes sense. For a $5 difference, it isn’t.

When to get the best discounts at HP
This is when HP has their best sales
HP has sales practically year-round, but we've watched them closely and know when to expect the deepest discounts.
In 2025 and 2026 so far, their biggest sales are:
Presidents' Day (February) features tiered dollar-off codes with discounts up to $100 off purchases of $1299 or more.
Memorial Day (May) has historically been the best window for business hardware. In 2026, they promoted up to five business PC codes with discounts ranging from $65 to $150 off.
Back to school (July through early September) is a reliable window for student purchases. HP puts out student-focused discounts, bundle deals, and special financing, with deals rotating weekly throughout the season.
Black Friday and Cyber Monday (November through early December) have the deepest discounts of the year. HP's Black Friday sale starts in early November and runs through November 29th. Cyber Monday deals follow directly and stretch through that week. Laptop discounts reach up to 75% off during this stretch. This is the best time to buy a laptop, desktop, gaming PC, or printer, though the doorbusters go by fast.
Holiday season (December through January) sales feature deals on the most popular tech of the year, gift bundles, and promos on gaming laptops.
For laptop purchases specifically, the Black Friday through Cyber Monday stretch is the best time to buy if your timing is flexible.
