The 5% is not always the best deal, and only one discount applies per booking. Price all three of these against the military rate and take the winner:

• USAA members can pull a separate, richer USAA rate through their account

• A live Email Extras code will sometimes undercut the military rate on shorter local rentals

• A AAA rate on the same dates can also come in lower

Official Government Travel is a separate program for federal employees and service members on government business, and the real value is what comes bundled with the rate:

• Damage and liability coverage are built in, so the Damage Waiver an agent pushes at pickup is redundant and free to decline. On a week-long rental, that usually saves more than the base-rate discount does.

• The age floor drops to 18 with the young-driver surcharge waived, the biggest win for anyone under 25 in uniform.

Bring physical orders or a government travel card, and turn down every add-on insurance at pickup. That is where the counter claws back what the rate saved you. Federal employees with a GSA agency-negotiated rate should book on that instead, since it often prices under the public government rate.

Enterprise does not run a general student or senior promo code. Its lowest rates sit behind pre-arranged deals with employers, schools, and membership groups instead. The two best ways to unlock these rates are an AARP membership or a Corporate Account Number (CID) through a job or university.

A Corporate Account Number (CID) is the other route, and it costs nothing when an employer, school, or alumni group already has one set up with Enterprise. Ask HR, the alumni portal, or a campus career services page for the code. Bring an employee badge or alumni card to the counter, since the agent will ask for proof.

Not always the one you would guess. Enterprise prices weekly rentals on a separate, lower daily tier, so stretching a 3-day weekend to 5, 6, or 7 days sometimes drops the total below the shorter rental, even with the extra days on the contract. A 3-day weekend at $55 a day is $165, and a 5-day weekly rate at $32 a day is $160. Same trip, two extra days, $5 less.

Enterprise's site does not publish a weekend rate or a fixed weekly-rate threshold, but renters on r/TravelHacks and r/EnterpriseCarRental have flagged the same pattern repeatedly. Running a weekend booking again as a 5, 6, or 7-day rental often surfaces a cheaper total, and the cutoff shifts by branch and car class. That is why we recommend running both searches yourself at booking instead of trusting a set rule.

The trick has no downside because Enterprise only bills for days actually used on non-prepaid (Pay Later) rentals. A 5-day booking returned on day 3 gets billed for 3 days, not 5. Where it loses its edge is when the destination charges for daily parking, since the added cost can eat the rate savings.

Enterprise takes all major credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover) at every location. Paying with a debit or check card, though, comes with strict rules.

At airport locations, debit cards are only accepted when you show a ticketed return travel plan. At neighborhood branches, you'll need to provide extra proof, such as two current utility bills (like water or gas) and your most recent paycheck stub. The name and address on all documents must match your driver's license exactly.
