What to know about DIRECTV’s cancellation policy
Signed up for DIRECTV STREAM with a device included? You can cancel for any reason within 14 days of purchase and get a full refund. That covers all fees and charges you paid before cancelling. The key is to act early, not at the last minute, so you have time to confirm the refund goes through.
Since the device came with your service, you have 14 days after cancellation to return it. Send it back in good condition with normal wear and tear. A late return, or one that's damaged, means a $120 non-return fee. Allow for shipping time so it arrives in time.
If you purchased a DIRECTV device and want to cancel that order, you'll need to return it within 14 days of purchase for a full refund. After 14 days, the device is yours to keep and can't be refunded. So this matters most when you're returning gear soon after buying. Here's how the refund works:
Device paid in full: You'll get a full refund once you return the device undamaged within that 14-day window.
Device paid with an installment plan: The same refund applies. But return it late or damaged, and you'll be charged the outstanding balance under your installment agreement.
Cancelling after that 14-day window works differently if you're on a two-year contract. Disconnecting before your 24-month commitment ends triggers an Early Termination Fee (ETF) of $20 for each month remaining, up to $480.
