Accepted payment methods and secure transactions
Rover requires all booking payments to be made through its secure platform. It protects your credit card and personal information using industry-standard encryption protocols. Paying outside of their app is against its terms of service because it removes the platform’s protections, including secure messaging and coverage under the Rover Guarantee. For this reason, we recommend entering payment details at checkout and applying any promo code before finalizing your booking.
You should never pay a sitter in cash or through external payment apps such as Venmo or Zelle. Off-platform payments void the Rover Guarantee, including access to 24/7 support and potential veterinary reimbursement. For tipping, the charges are handled separately and usually becomes available after the service is completed.
