Return & exchange policy breakdown
We read the policy in June 2026, and here is what we found. Free People has a 30-day window for returns to the original form of payment. After 30 days, returns are refunded as a gift card. You can return or exchange items within one year. After one year, you can no longer return or exchange.
Items must be unworn, unwashed, and with the original tags and receipt. Damaged or missing items must be reported within 30 days of the ship date.

Exchange policy
For even exchanges, go through the online return portal. Your exchange must arrive at the warehouse within 14 days, or the order will be cancelled.
We recommend starting this process immediately. If an item is out of stock, you will get a refund to the original form of payment. Exchanged items requested after 30 days from the delivery date will be refunded in the form of an e-gift card.
