Meet your expert

Getting that Amazon box on your doorstep is even better when you didn't pay full price. I've been a Coupons.com editor for five years, and it's my job is to find, verify, and update the deals on this page so you always have something worth using. I test Amazon's discounts before sharing them and look for ways to get you the best price. Subscribe & Save is one I use personally. On my last order of coffee pods, it knocked about $10 off without me doing anything extra. That kind of savings adds up fast on things you buy every month.

About Amazon

Amazon started as an online bookstore in 1994. Today, they sell nearly everything, from tech to clothing, home goods, groceries, and beauty products. Most people know Amazon for Prime, but the membership covers more than fast delivery. It also includes streaming video and music, access to healthcare services, and grocery delivery.

For help with an order, return, or anything else, visit Amazon's website, select your issue and choose to chat or request a call. Customer support is available 24/7.

Trade in old devices for gift cards and 20% off

Amazon's trade-in program lets you send in eligible used electronics and receive an Amazon gift card in return. When you trade in a qualifying device, you also get 20% off a new device. Most major electronics are accepted, including phones, tablets, video games, and Kindle and Echo devices.

How to trade in:

  1. Visit the Amazon Trade-In page and search for your item

  2. Select the condition that matches your device

  3. Accept the estimated value and ship your item using the free prepaid label Amazon provides

  4. Amazon inspects the item once it arrives, usually within a few business days

  5. Your gift card is issued after inspection

Limits per order:

Phones are limited to one trade-in per new phone purchase. For all other items, you can send up to 5 per order with a max combined value of $1,800 and no more than 2 of the same item per quarter.

A few things to know:

The estimated value is based on the condition you select. If the item arrives in worse condition than reported, Amazon will adjust the offer or return the item to you. Some trade-ins also include extra discounts, like trade-in rebates or instant credit on select upgrades. Keep in mind, the gift card value cannot be converted to cash.

This program works best for people who upgrade devices regularly or have old electronics sitting in a drawer. It is available to U.S. customers with a valid return address. Accepted products change regularly, so check the Trade-In page for current availability.

Save up to 15% with Subscribe & Save

Subscribe & Save is Amazon's automatic delivery service. It saves you money on everyday essentials with every order. Discounts can change at any time, and are based on how many items you have in a single delivery cycle:

  • 1 to 4 items: save up to 5%

  • 5 or more items: up to 15% off

Standard shipping on all auto-deliveries is free. Non-Prime customers may incur a shipping cost on their first delivery. We were unable to confirm the exact amount, so check the product page at checkout for details.

The program works best if you buy the same products month after month and want to avoid reordering manually. The more subscriptions you stack in one delivery cycle, the more you save. It is commonly used for pantry staples, cleaning supplies, diapers, and personal care products. If a discount is available for an item, you will see it on the product detail page when you sign up.

Choose a delivery frequency between every 2 weeks and every 6 months, depending on the item. You can also skip a delivery, adjust quantities, or cancel at any time.

What to know about shipping and returns

Shipping

Prime members get free delivery on over 300 million items, plus same-day or next-day delivery in eligible areas.

Same-day delivery for Prime members:

  • Free on orders over $25

  • $2.99 fee on orders under $25

  • Place your order by noon for delivery by 10 p.m. the same day

  • Your confirmed delivery date will appear in your order confirmation email

Non-Prime members get free standard shipping on eligible orders of $35 or more. This applies to items fulfilled and shipped by Amazon. There's usually a shipping fee for orders under $35.

Some third-party sellers fulfill and ship their own orders and may charge separate shipping fees. These fees apply even if orders exceed the $35 minimum. Common seller rates start at $3.99 for small items like books, DVDs, and video games. Items like cameras, kitchen goods, and toys start at $4.49, plus there's a per-pound fee that varies by shipping speed. Expedited or one-day shipping starts at $6.99, depending on weight and speed.

Amazon Locker and pickup locations: You can have eligible orders shipped to an Amazon Locker or pickup location at no extra cost. Depending on your order, membership status, or the seller, standard shipping fees may still apply. Eligibility is limited to items sold or fulfilled by Amazon that meet size and weight requirements.

Returns

Most items can be returned within 30 days for a refund or exchange, as long as they are in original condition. To start a return, go to your account and select the item. You can choose to print a label or get a QR code sent to your phone. Show the QR code at a UPS, Kohl's, or Amazon Locker location and they will handle the packaging and label for you. Many returns are free, but some large electronics may have a small fee.

A few things to know:

Amazon will usually extend the return window during the holidays. E-books and digital content have a 7-day return window. Not everything is returnable. Perishable food, custom items, trading cards, and clearance products marked "Final Sale" are excluded. Refunds are processed after Amazon or the seller receives and inspects the item, which can take up to 30 days.

  • Exclusive deals including Prime Day

  • Savings at Amazon Fresh and Whole Foods Market

  • Prime Access (for qualifying low-income customers): $6.99/month for government assistance recipients or income-verified customers

  • Prime for Young Adults (students and young adults): $7.49/month for customers ages 18–24 and verified students

  • Prime Video only: about $8.99/month for streaming access only

New members can start with a 30-day free trial. A payment method is required, and you can cancel at any time before your trial ends to avoid being charged.

Two Prime plans come at a reduced rate for qualifying customers

Prime Access

New members start with a 30-day free trial. After that, it is $6.99/month, which is 53% less than the standard rate.

Qualify one of two ways:

  • Income verification showing household income at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Guideline

  • Proof of enrollment in a qualifying government assistance program. Eligible programs include SSI, SNAP, Medicaid, and WIC, among others.

Any documents you submit will be deleted after processing.

Prime for Young Adults

This plan is for customers ages 18-24 and verified students. Start with 6 months free, then pay $7.49/month. That is 50% off the standard rate. The membership lasts up to 4 years or until you finish school, whichever comes first. For members who join using age verification, your plan switches to standard pricing when you turn 25.

Young Adult members also get 5% cash back every day on eligible purchases in beauty, apparel, electronics, and more. Limited-time offers also include additional cash back on select products. In mid-May, we saw offers that included a Samsung gaming monitor and Garden of Life Probiotics.

To verify:

  • Age: passport, driver's license, or government-issued ID

  • Student status: .edu email address, enrollment form, student ID, or official acceptance letter

Save more during Prime sales and Black Friday

Amazon's biggest sales events are Prime Day in July, Prime Big Deal Days in October, and Black Friday in November. Here is what we know about each sale and how you can get the most out of them:

Prime Day and Prime Big Deal Days

Prime Day began as a one-day event and expanded to four days in 2025. Amazon also runs Prime Big Deal Days, a second Prime-exclusive shopping event that normally takes place in October and lasts for two days. The Prime events offer discounts across electronics, clothing, home goods, and more. During Prime Day, you can take advantage of themed daily drops called Today's Big Deals, with new offers rolling out each day. We have seen up to 80% off items like Apple AirPods Pro, Dyson vacuums, and laptops. Prime members get exclusive pricing and early access. While you need a Prime membership to participate, free trials are available for new members.

Black Friday

Black Friday week runs in late November following Thanksgiving. You will find deals across more than 35 categories, including high-ticket items and everyday essentials. Most Black Friday discounts are open to everyone. However, members get early access to select deals, faster shipping, and exclusive discounts. From what we have seen, some deals on TVs and furniture can match or beat Prime Day prices.

Tips to get more out of the sales:

  • Make a list first. Decide what you want before the sale starts. It keeps your spending focused and helps you move fast when a deal goes live

  • Set price alerts. Use the Amazon app to track price drops on specific items before the sale begins

  • Act early. Prime members get early access. In our experience, the most popular items sell out within the first few hours

Get up to 50% off with Amazon's Today's Deals

Today's Deals is where Amazon lists limited-time discounts every day. Deals change frequently and some sell out within hours. It includes several ways to save:

Lightning Deals

Lightning Deals are time-sensitive discounts that can save you over 50%. For example, a $100 Bluetooth speaker may drop to around $40. Each deal is limited to one per customer and includes a countdown timer and a status bar showing how many have been claimed.

A few things to know:

  • Once all units are claimed, you can join a waitlist

  • If a waitlist spot opens, you have 15 minutes to complete checkout before the deal moves to the next person

  • During Prime Day and Prime Big Deal Days, Lightning Deals may be exclusive to Prime members

Amazon Coupons

The Coupons section has digital coupons you can clip directly on the product page. Find them on items you need, like household essentials, personal care, electronics, and groceries. Click "Clip Coupon" on the product page and the discount will automatically apply at checkout. Some coupons stack with sale prices, but this depends on the promotion.

Amazon Outlet

The Outlet section has overstock and clearance items across home, fashion, electronics, and kitchen. Most items are new but discounted due to excess inventory or seasonal clearance.

Lowest price in 365 days

Some listings include a label showing when an item is at its lowest price in the past 365 days. This helps you quickly identify historically strong discounts.

Today's Deals works best for shoppers who prioritize savings over brand loyalty. In our experience, checking it first is one of the easiest ways to find lower prices on everyday essentials, electronics, and home goods. It is also a good spot for seasonal and trending items and for anyone wanting to stock up on household staples when prices drop. By checking it regularly, you are more likely to catch a Lightning Deal before it sells out.

Amazon credit card options compared

Amazon offers four personal credit cards and one business card, none of which charge an annual fee. There are two personal Visa cards, which are accepted anywhere and do not have foreign transaction fees. One is a store card for Amazon purchases only. The fourth is a secured card for building or rebuilding credit. Here is what you need to know about each:

Prime Visa (requires Prime membership)

  • 5% back at Amazon, Amazon Fresh, Whole Foods, and Chase Travel

  • 2% back at gas stations, restaurants, and transit

  • 1% back on all other purchases

  • 10% or more back on rotating Prime selections

  • $150 welcome gift card (we saw this offer in May)

APR: 18.74%–27.49% variable. If you carry a monthly balance, the interest will likely cancel out your cash back. This card works best if you pay in full each month.

Amazon Visa (no Prime required)

  • 3% back at Amazon, Amazon Fresh, Whole Foods, and Chase Travel

  • 2% back at gas stations, restaurants, and transit

  • 1% back on all other purchases

APR: 18.74%–27.49% variable. The same interest warning applies.

Amazon Store Card (Amazon purchases only)

  • 5% back at Amazon and Whole Foods for Prime members (Whole Foods requires an in-store code)

  • 0% APR financing on qualifying purchases

  • Zero fraud liability

  • $10 gift card welcome offer (we saw this in May)

Amazon Secured Card (for building or rebuilding credit)

  • 10% APR

  • $5 late fee

  • 2% back at Amazon and Whole Foods for Prime members (in-store code required)

  • Free credit score tracking through TransUnion CreditView Dashboard

  • After 12 months of responsible use, you can qualify to activate Amazon Store Card features

Amazon Business Prime Card

This card is for business owners and teams, not personal shopping. It earns up to 5% cash back on select purchases. Most people doing personal shopping will find more value in the Prime Visa or Store Card.

Save up to 60% on refurbished and open-box items

In both the Amazon Renewed and Resale sections, you'll find discounted and pre-owned products, but they work differently. Here is how they differ and what you can expect from each.

Amazon Renewed

Amazon Renewed is where you'll find pre-owned and refurbished products. Each item is professionally inspected and tested before it's listed. You can save up to 60% compared to buying new, especially on tech like smartphones, laptops, headphones, gaming devices, and cameras.

Every Renewed product is backed by the Amazon Renewed Guarantee, and many include a 90-day warranty.

In May, we saw Apple AirPods Pro (2nd generation) starting at $149 through Amazon Renewed, compared to about $259 new. That is a savings of at least $110 on the same product.

Amazon Resale

Amazon Resale carries open-box, returned, used, and refurbished items at discounted prices. Each item is inspected and graded before it is listed, so you can see the condition level before buying. Every listing includes a detailed description of the item's condition.

Some of the categories we have seen are electronics, laptops, headphones, kitchen appliances, and home goods. Discounts vary by product and condition, but savings are most common on higher-ticket items.

Most purchases are fulfilled by Amazon and include standard customer service and return options. However, this depends on the listing.

We also recently saw a popular stainless steel cutting board listed at $29 new. The same item in "Like New" condition through Amazon Resale was $25, which is a savings of almost 15%.

Which one is right for you

  • Choose Renewed for professionally refurbished products with a warranty and a guarantee

  • Choose Resale if you are comfortable with open-box or returned items and want the lowest possible price

How to use an Amazon promo code

Amazon promo codes save you money at checkout. Here is how to use one:

Enter it manually

  1. Add an eligible item to your cart

  2. At checkout, find the "Gift Cards and Promotional Codes" section on the payment or order page

  3. Copy or type the promo code exactly as shown. No spaces before, inside, or after the code

  4. Select "Apply"

  5. Check the final price before placing your order to confirm the discount was applied

Clip it from the product page

Some promo codes can be clipped directly from a product page. Once it's clipped, the discount applies automatically to eligible items.
