You’ll need an account to use MoneyGram. Once you create one, you can also sign up for their SMS alerts and email newsletter. Make sure you select the box labeled “Yes, Send Me Emails About Offers and Promotions.” You can find the latest deals and promotions. During the holiday season, for example, we've seen them share discount codes to save on your first transfer. We've also seen first-time users receive a free $5 Amazon Gift Card on their first transfer in the past.
Invite a friend, earn $25 per referral
Invite a friend to MoneyGram, and you both save. Once they sign up and send $50 or more for the first time, you'll earn a $25 discount toward your next transfer. When your friend completes that first transfer, they'll save $25 automatically. No code is required. Neither discount has an expiration date, so you can sit on it until you're ready to send again.
Say you invite a friend, and they send $200 to Mexico. The $25 comes off their total right away. Once their transfer goes through, your $25 shows up in your account to use toward your next transfer.
There are a few requirements to keep in mind. You'll need a US-based MoneyGram account with at least one transfer already under your belt before you can refer anyone. Your friend must be new to MoneyGram, with no account or transfer history of their own. And the transfer that earns the discount has to go to one of MoneyGram's eligible countries: Afghanistan, Brazil, Canada, Colombia, El Salvador, Haiti, Honduras, Jamaica, Jordan, Mexico, the Philippines, Uzbekistan, or Venezuela.
You can't stack this discount with other promo codes or rewards, and it's limited to online transfers through MoneyGram's website or app. It won't work for bill payments, prepaid cards, mobile top-ups, or money orders either. On the plus side, there's no limit on how many friends you can refer or how much you can earn.
To get started, share your referral link with a friend. Friends who lose the link can enter it manually at checkout.
How to use a MoneyGram promo code
Enter your promo code from this page before you confirm your transfer, not after. Here are the steps to follow:
Sign in to your MoneyGram account.
Enter your transfer amount and recipient details.
On the review page, look for the designated field.
Enter your promo code there and select "Apply." Your discount will show up in the total.
If your promo code doesn't work, check to see if it has expired or if your transfer falls short of the minimum amount required. Keep in mind that most promo codes only apply to online transfers, not to in-person transactions at a MoneyGram location.
