Perks You Didn’t Know Were Available for Veterans

8 Perks You Didn’t Know Were Available to Veterans

After they’ve served our country, it’s our turn to repay the favor to soldiers and veterans. From special bonuses to exclusive discounts to valuable programs, active duty military personnel and veterans are eligible for a range of well-earned privileges. Here are just a few you may not have heard of that are definitely worth looking into as a thank you for your service!

Bank Better with Chase for Business Military Banking Benefits

Many military personnel find themselves looking for an ‘act two’ in their lives; what they’ll do after their active service career is complete. If being your own boss sounds appealing, Chase for Business offers several benefits for veteran-owned small businesses.

Save money with no monthly fees on Chase Total Business Checking® and the annual fee on a Business Line of Credit waived for the first year. These incredible benefits serve up just the foundation needed for your business to not just succeed, but soar.

Cheer On The Home Team

Vet Tix is a not-for-profit organization that is committed to giving veterans the opportunity to kick back, relax, and make memories with their loved ones. They source tickets to sports events, concerts, and other entertainment experiences across all 50 states, and donate them for free or provide them at a discounted rate to veterans, service members, and their family members. You can even request tickets to a specific event as part of their ‘Hero’s Wish’ program!

Score the Lowest Mortgage Rates on the Market

Veteran Affairs can help put a roof over you and your loved ones’ heads with VA loans. With no down payment or mortgage insurance required, these loans also often have some of the lowest mortgage rates on the market, ensuring your family can budget and live comfortably for years to come. Plus, VA loans can be accessed through traditional financial institutions, like Chase Financial, ultimately streamlining the administrative process for you.

Hit the Road With Military Discounts

When your tour of duty is done, it’s time to settle into civilian life – and many car dealers are here to support that with exclusive discounts on new cars purchased within a year of discharge. $500 in your pocket and a new set of wheels? Sounds like a win/win to us!

Stay In Touch

One of the hardest parts of active service is being apart from your loved ones. Luckily, several mobile providers like Verizon and T-Mobile provide discounted rates on monthly plans, accessories, and phones for military personnel, ensuring you can stay connected no matter where your service takes you.

Fly For Free (Or at Least for Less)

If road trips aren’t your style, why not take to the skies? If there’s space on a Department of Defense aircraft, you may be in luck. These seats are filled with Space-A Travel, AKA Space Available Flight, which lets current and retired military personnel travel for little or no cost to a variety of global destinations. Plus, virtually every airline offers military member discounts for you and your family, as well as other perks like free checked bags. Plus, you can chill out at the airport in a USO center, which serves up free snacks, WI-Fi, TV, and more to keep everyone entertained.

Build Something Great

Home Depot and Lowe’s are both here to lend a hand as you build your civilian life. Offering 10% year-round discounts at either retailer, you can save on building materials, furniture, tools, and more to keep your hands busy when not on duty. Don’t Forget About Your Spouse!

Many people assume military discounts only apply to those who have served or are serving, or family members of those killed in action. But in fact, many military discounts can also be applied to family of eligible service members, even if they’re not present. If you spot a military personnel deal, always check in to see if it extends to spouses as well. Some companies like Disney actually promote spouse discounts on theme park tickets and hotels through their Armed Forces Salute Program. Other programs are actually designed for military spouses like the MyCAA Scholarship program which provides up to $4,000 for spouses pursuing a license, certificate, certification, or associate degree for a high-demand, portable job in fields like nursing, construction, or legal.
