These Heart-Shaped Homemade Dog Treats Are Perfect for Your Pup! | thegoodstuff

My kids aside, I can honestly say my dogs bring me the most happiness.

All you have to do is follow One-Eyed Jack on Instagram to see how spoiled my pups are! I have a deep soft spot for unadoptable dogs, and my menagerie shows that well. From Jack, who lost his eye to abuse, to my newest girl Joy, who’s feral and terrified of everything, my pets all needed a safe, happy place to grow.

Because of this, it should come as no surprise that I go all out for them on Valentine’s Day, too! In fact, I’m already starting to collect Valentine’s Day items for my dogs — as well as my kids! — and I wanted to share some of my ideas for pampering your pooch.

These heart-shaped homemade dog treats are just one way I spoil my pups. Read on to find out how I make them, plus check out a few more Valentine’s Day pet gift ideas I have my eyes on!

Heart-Shaped Homemade Dog Treats Recipe

These Heart-Shaped Homemade Dog Treats Are Perfect for Your Pup! | thegoodstuff

I love making homemade dog treats for my pets. I know what’s going in them, I can make them according to my dog’s favorite flavors, and I can watch them go from kitchen to dog instantly!

I make a lot of variations of treats, but some of the dogs’ favorites are the ones with homemade icing, just like these heart-shaped treats. Jack loves these treats so much that he eats them right off the tray! They’re easy to store, nice and chewy, and full of flavor for even the most discerning dog.

• 4 strips crispy bacon
• 1/2 cup shredded taco cheese
• 1 1/2 cups oatmeal
• 2 large eggs

1. Heat the oven to 350 degrees. Mix the dry ingredients until fine. You can use a mixer with a paddle or a chopper to make the pieces small.

2. Add eggs to the mix and blend until sticky. Lay out on a layer of oats to prevent them from sticking to the cutting board. Use a cookie cutter to shape as desired.

3. Bake about 20 minutes, watching for them to be slightly golden. Set aside to cool.
