Halloween “Bow-Wow!” DIY Dog Treats [Recipe]

Halloween “Bow-Wow!” DIY Dog Treats [Recipe] | thegoodstuff

It’s almost time for costumes, trick-or-treating, and a night of creepy fun! Though the kids are already counting down the days, we can’t forget about our furry pals who protect us all year long.

Keep your pups happy by adding some pumpkin and peanut butter dog treats to their “Bow-Wow!” treat bags!

My dogs are dressing up as superheroes this year, so I want to make sure their “Bow-Wow!” treat bag is full of things they love. Bow-Wow! treat bags are awesome for your dog if Halloween and the doorbell ringing over and over again stresses them out.

All that barking takes energy too, so having some DIY dog treats on hand is a necessity to keep them happy. I even make more than one Bow-Wow! bag of treats in case a trick-or-treater is accompanied by their own four legged friend.

Pumpkin-Bacon DIY Dog Treats

  • 1/2 can pureed pumpkin
  • 2 1/2 cups flour (you can use whole-wheat as well)
  • 2 Tablespoons dried milk (powder form)
  • 2 eggs
  • Bacon bits

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a bowl, combine all the ingredients, then pour onto a lightly floured surface.
  2. Press or roll out flat and as thick as you’d like.
  3. Cut your shapes and place them on a Silpat or baking sheet.
  4. Bake 20 minutes on one side, then flip and bake 20 minutes on the other. Let cool and serve!

These are so easy and my Super Beagle and Batgirl Beagle love them. My To the Moon Terrier gobbles them up, as well!

I make these in bulk and then store the ones I want for the week in an airtight container. I freeze the rest and pull them out when I need them, making sure I let them thaw first.

As part of the Bow-Wow! treat bags, these are perfect! As a pet parent, I do tend to spoil them, though, so I like to add little stuffed toys and other fun things to my dogs’ night of entertainment as we greet trick-or-treaters at the door.

So as you prepare for a night of fun, don’t forget your furry pal! Make them these DIY dog treats and include them in your own Bow-Wow! treat bags.
