In honor of all the dads out there, we’ve nominated some of the Coupons.com family to share their favorite parts of being a dad, and some of their words of wisdom.
Our Coupons.com Sporty Dad is Sean, father of 5.
Q: What is your favorite part of being a dad?
A: Giving our kids a chance to achieve whatever they want and watching them mature in love and understanding of God and the world around them.
Q: What is your favorite thing to do with your kids?
A: Playing baseball in the yard or at the park or just hanging out.
Q: How are you planning on celebrating Father’s Day?
A: We’ll go to church and visit my father to barbecue, play in the yard, play some ping-pong and fall asleep on the couch watching the Giants win again. Maybe I’ll let my oldest son practice driving my car this time. I heard we will be going to see a movie!
Q: What is your best Dad Joke?
A: What’s the longest word in the dictionary? SMILES, because there’s a mile between the “S”-es. Or How do you get down from an elephant? You don’t, you get down from a duck! (this came from my Dad, actually)
Q: What piece of advice do you want to make sure your kids remember?
A: No matter what you do, you are loved. So why not make the most of your life?
Q: What is the best present you’ve received from your kids?
A: Big hugs of love and appreciation and when the older ones give up their time to help with me. I also love the homemade cards, ornaments and posters they make.
Sporty Dad
Q: What’s the best piece of sportsmanship advice you want to share with your kids?
A: Be a good sport; don’t be a sore loser; make sure there’s no one around you when you swing the bat; “eye on the ball!”
Q: What sports do you coach?
A: Girls’ fast-pitch softball and boys’ little league baseball.
Q: What do you most admire about how your children enjoy sports?
A: When they accomplish the little things, like sliding into third base or getting a crucial hit, it fills them with self-esteem! They become confident, happier and fearless.
