A buffet-style baked potato bar is a great way to feed a crowd for your Big Game party. Set it out and let your guests assemble potatoes topped with all their favorite foods.

Baked potatoes are the perfect main course for your food bar because they’re easily customizable. Everyone can add their favorite toppings, and it’s fairly easy to accommodate a variety of diets.

You can also continue the potato trend by offering different varieties, like sweet potato fries and my favorite Hash Brown Cups.

How to Make a Baked Potato Bar

Baked Potatoes

I’ve found russet potatoes are the best kind to use. You’ll want to scrub them well and give them time to dry before your party.

To bake, rub them with olive oil and sprinkle with salt, then bake them at 400 degrees for 1 hour.

Baked Potato Toppings

Make sure to offer a variety of toppings. If you have any guests with food allergies or health concerns, be sure to include topping choices that will work for them.

  • Low-fat sour cream
  • Whipped butter
  • Cheddar cheese
  • Salsa
  • Chili
  • Bacon or turkey bacon
  • Black beans
  • Chopped red or green onions
  • Roasted red peppers
  • Broccoli
  • Fire-roasted corn
  • Chopped tomatoes
  • Jalapeño slices
  • Barbecue sauce
  • Sriracha
  • Bacon jam (trust me, this is amazing!)
  • Hot sauce

Sweet Potato Fries

I love munching on Sweet Potato Fries. You can easily bake a bag of frozen fries before the party, then serve them in mini cups with barbecue sauce or ketchup for dipping.
