It’s the biggest shopping days of the year, Black Friday and some retailers well they’ll be open 24 hours and a lot of shoppers will plan on keeping up with them, shopping around the clock. First step, have a plan. Read Black Friday ads front to back. Many will be mailed to you but you can also find them all online.

When comparing prices, be sure to factor in free gifts with purchase. Some retailers will give you a gift card when you make a purchase, and on some high ticket items, you may even find yourself getting a free TV or a cookware set.

Download the mobile app, it will let you know if there are nearby offers you can take advantage of.  For some coupons, you simply click “view coupon” and show your phone at checkout. Then there are card linked offers, which can be added to your credit card and will automatically be applied when you use that card to make your purchase.

Flash sales are often where you’ll find the best deals. Retailers will offer special coupons or sale prices but it’s for a limited number of hours.

Amazon’s “lightning deals” are a great example of these with new limited time offers popping up all day long, literally minutes apart. But flash sales and limited time coupons are also common inside brick-and-mortar stores.

Bring your loyalty cards when you shop. Some retailers will be offering bonus points on select purchases.

Be sure to read the fine print. Some stores will suspend their price match and raincheck policies during their Black Friday sales, so it’s even more important during this time to make sure you do your research. Use those ads to find the best deal and if the item is really important to you, have a backup plan in case they are out of stock.

TVs are always one of the best deals you will find on Black Friday and this year is no exception. Expect to find great deals on 4k TVs. Now research those doorbuster deals before you make your purchase, some TVs are manufactured just for Black Friday so they’ll actually have lower specs than their standard models. So spend the time, do the research and make the purchase that will make you happy.

Being the first person in line can be a real advantage. Some stores will hand out gift cards to the first 100 or so people in line. Usually these cards range in value with the chance for a lucky shopper or two to win big with a $100 or even $1000 gift card.
