Have you noticed that trolls are everywhere?

That’s right, the same bright-haired, gem-bellied trolls from our childhood have resurfaced in a new kids’ movie from Dreamworks.

If your kiddos have already seen the film and are in love with Poppy and Branch, why not plan a kid-friendly weekend Trolls movie party? I hosted one of my own and let the kids create rainbow-themed healthy treats, play games, and sing along to “Can’t Stop The Feeling.”

Set the stage

You can create a colorful party table with this Trolls tableware kit from Amazon, or go all out with rainbow-colored plates, cups, napkins, and more from your local party supply store.

Don’t forget, your plates of cupcakes, bowls of icing, and pizza ingredients will add even more color to your table! I like to display these in little bowls and plates of their own so kids can easily pick and choose what to put on their plate.

Dress up & dance!

For an extra dose of fun, why not add a few troll wigs? These are everywhere right now, and you can grab one for every kid or be the perfect hostess in your own bright pink Poppy wig.

Don’t forget to turn up the volume on your Trolls playlist. You can bet the kids will be dancing around the house, singing along to their favorite songs!

Last but certainly not least, let the kids get some of that energy out with a Trolls piñata! Fill it up with candy, then set it up outside and let them take (supervised) turns at breaking it open.

Get colorful with food

Are little tummies rumbling? Let the kids decorate their mini Rainbow Pizzas, Rainbow Yogurt Bowl, and Rainbow Water with colorful fruits and veggies. For a sweet treat, a tie-dyed cupcake topped with troll hair (cotton candy) will make the day extra special.

Directions

1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.

2. Roll the pizza crust out on a flat surface. Cut into 5 strips and then cut in half. Form each slice into a rainbow on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake for 5 minutes.

3. Evenly spoon the pizza sauce over the crust. Sprinkle with mozzarella cheese.

4. Arrange vegetables in the order of the colors of a rainbow. The green diced peppers will go on the bottom, then the yellow squash, followed by the orange diced peppers, and finally the halved cherry tomatoes as the very top color.

5. Season lightly with salt and pepper. Bake for another 5-8 minutes or until the edges are browned.

6. Drizzle with a little more oil and serve immediately.

Troll Rainbow Cupcakes

Ingredients

• 24 cupcakes, baked and cooled
• 8 cups white buttercream frosting
• Assorted food coloring
• Two disposable piping bags
• 24 lollipop sticks
• Cotton candy (pink, orange, purple & blue)

Directions

1. Divide the buttercream into the 3-4 bowls, depending on how many colors you want. Add a few drops of food coloring to each bowl and mix until you have vibrant colors.

2. Use a spatula to spread a thick stripe of each color inside a disposable piping bag. Stick the bag inside a tall glass before filling it to give it more strength and structure. Repeat with the remaining colors until your bag is full of vertical stripes of frosting. You should have enough for 2-3 bags of frosting.

3. Twist the bag closed at the top, and snip off the tip. Pipe generous swirls of multi-colored frosting on top of each cupcake. Once they’re frosted, set aside for a moment.

4. Make mini-cotton candy sticks by taking a generous pinch of cotton candy and pressing it around the top of a lollipop stick. Wrap more cotton candy around it and gently press it to the top. You want it to remain light and fluffy. Stick the cotton candy sticks down through the frosting and into the cupcakes.

5. Serve!
