Whether you’re spending your day in an air-conditioned movie theater or barbecuing with family, there’s no shortage of fun to be had in July. Fortunately, for savvy shoppers, deals are also in abundance. Here’s how you can save on July’s best buys.
Movies: Summer movie programs are in full effect and that means children’s movies cost as little as $1 per person. Check out Cinemark’s Summer Movie Clubhouse, Harkins Summer Movie Fun, and Regal Summer Movie Express. These dollar movies are typically shown on weekday mornings, but there is a way to save on Friday nights. Visa Signature members who purchase tickets through Fandango can take advantage of a buy one, get one free movie ticket to a Friday show this summer.
Patio Furniture: Look for furniture sales as retailers make room for fall style. You will see some of the best savings on outdoor furniture. If you’re looking for low maintenance material, choose aluminum, which won’t rust like steel and can be easily cleaned with soapy water. For a budget-friendly revamp, buy new cushions or add a fresh coat of paint.
Paint: It just so happen that as the temperature rises, paint tends to go on sale. Some paint stores will sell you untinted paint and let you bring it back later to have it tinted and shaken at no additional charge. That way you can still take advantage of a great sale even if you’re not ready to choose a color.
Baseball Games: Head to the ballpark on family night for savings everyone can enjoy. Package deals from some Major League baseball teams typically include ticket, hot dog, snack and soda. I found a 4-pack to my local team for $12.50 a person.
Grills: After 4th of July is a great time to save on a new grill. Not sure whether to go with propane or charcoal? Consider a grill that runs on charcoal, but has a built-in propane system to get it started. This gives you the best of both worlds: speed and flavor. You can find savings on both propane and charcoal this month too.
Sears: Save $60 off $400 on Patio Furniture, Grills & Outdoor Décor. Ends 8/2/2014
Large Appliances: Whenever there is a major holiday weekend, there is likely to be sales on major appliances. Before purchasing, type in your zip code at energystar.gov to find any rebates and special offers available to you like sales tax exemptions or recycling incentives for the disposal of your old appliances.
Ice Cream Makers: If you’re feeling inspired by all those ice cream treats showing up on Pinterest, then this is one deal you might want to swoop in on. It’s heating up since July is National Ice Cream Month so ice cream makers are likely to go on sale. If you have a KitchenAid, save space in your cabinets by buying an ice cream canister attachment that pairs with your stand mixer rather than a whole new appliance.
KitchenAid: Save 5% off your order. Ends 12/31/2014
Before you shop: July is also a great time for discounts on water and amusement parks, zoos and concerts. See our list on the best things to buy in July of last year for more deals.
