AAA | Many AAA clubs across the country offers a free Tipsy Tow program, which can help get you and your car home safe on New Year’s Eve. Check to see if your local club is participating.

Uber & Lyft | New Year’s Eve is one of the busiest nights for these popular rideshare services. Both offer free rides for new users, so if you or a friend haven’t used these services before, New Year’s Eve is a great opportunity to do so. Save up to $22 off your first Uber ride or $50 off your first Lyft ride.
City Specific Free Rides & Tows
Many major cities offer free public transportation on New Year’s Eve. Local businesses will also sometimes sponsor free cab rides. Here are some that have been announced:
Denver RTD | Enjoy free bus and light rail service on Denver’s RTD system from 7 p.m. on New Year’s Eve until Saturday, January 2 at midnight.
Los Angeles Metro | Free rides will be offered for all bus and rail service from 9 p.m. on December 31, 2015, until 2 a.m. on the morning of January 1, 2016.
MBTA | The Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority will not collect fares after 8 p.m. on New Year’s Eve, and is offering a modified weekday schedule for its Red, Green, Blue, Orange, Silver, and Mattapan Trolley lines.
TriMet | Portland’s public transportation service TriMet will be free after 8 p.m. on New Year’s Eve, and MAX trains will run until 3 a.m. on January 1.
SFMTA | The San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency will be offering free Muni rides beginning at 8 p.m. on December 31 and ending at 5 a.m. on January 1 as well as extended service for many routes. The agency reminds riders to not tag their Clipper card to avoid being charged for a ride during these times.
Free New Year’s Eve Celebrations, Events & Entertainment
Ringing in the New Year can be expensive, but many cities offer free or low cost celebrations or fireworks. Check local newspapers and stations to find one in your area.
Houston | Located in the heart of downtown, The Theater District will host special performances for Houston’s largest family-friendly New Year’s Eve celebration. This impressive free event offers music, food, fun, and a spectacular fireworks display.
Miami | Pitbull’s New Year’s Eve Revolution returns to Bayfront Park in Miami and includes free concerts, entertainment, and fireworks.
Nashville | Ring in the new year and rock out the old with Music City at Nashville’s New Year’s Eve party on Lower Broadway with free music and fireworks.
Philadelphia | SugarHouse Casino sponsors two free fireworks shows on New Year’s Eve — one at 6 p.m. and one at midnight.
Times Square | The famous New Year’s Eve ball drop is free and open to the public.
San Francisco | Enjoy a free waterfront fireworks display at 11:59 p.m. just off Pier 14. The show promises to be a grand display with new and interesting pyrotechnics that are synced to music.
