Enjoy Sweet and Savory with Maple Bacon Donuts

Today is National Donut Day! Although we never need a reason to enjoy donuts, it’s the perfect excuse to try these Maple Bacon Donuts.

This recipe takes store bought donuts up a notch with apple-maple glaze and crispy bacon. I love making semi-homemade treats when I’m low on time, but still want to add some TLC. These are sure to hit the spot when you’re craving both sweet and savory!

Maple Bacon Donuts Recipe


Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup butter

  • 1/2 chopped apple

  • 1/2 cup maple syrup

  • 1 cup powdered sugar

  • Store-bought donuts (cake or glazed)

  • Bacon (cooked and chopped)

Stir in some savings with HORMEL® Bacon coupons.

Directions

1. In a saucepan, heat together butter, chopped apple, and syrup over medium-low heat until apples become tender.

2. Remove from heat and add powdered sugar.

3. Whisk until well blended and a creamy syrup forms.

4. Lay donuts on a wire rack and drizzle apple-maple glaze.

5. Top with cooked, chopped crispy bacon.

6. Drizzle another layer of glaze if you’d like. Serve and enjoy!
