What is Passbook?
Really think of it as a wallet. Your Passbook starts out empty and you decide what to put inside of your “wallet.” It is simply a storage app. You will have to add deals and cards from third-party apps and websites.
How do you add to Passbook?
Look for Passbook-enabled apps. For example, download the coupons.com app, browse in-store offers and you will see an “Add to Passbook” option next to each one. Select the offer you’d like and then click “Add” on the top right-hand corner. Now your offer will show up in Passbook.
What else should you add to Passbook?
Some airlines will let you store boarding passes in Passbook. That’s one less thing you have to worry about juggling through security. And to sweeten the deal, when you arrive at the airport, Passbook detects your location and your boarding pass will appear on your lock screen, ready to display at the swipe of a finger.
Who else uses Passbook?
You can download Passbook-enabled apps from retailers like Starbucks, Target, The Home Depot, Pinkberry, Sephora and Walgreens; ticket sites like Fandango, Ticketmaster or Live nation; and airlines like United, JetBlue, Alaska and American Airlines.
Passbook Troubleshooting Tips:
• If cashiers have trouble scanning your Passbook offers, It could be because of the brightness level on your phone. To adjust, go to “Settings,” click on “Wallpapers & Brightness” and use the slider to make your display brighter.
• If location-based passes (like boarding passes) don’t automatically appear on your lock screen, it could mean your “Location Services” are disabled. Go to “Settings” and select “Privacy” to access the status of your Location Services.
• Need to delete an expired offer or boarding pass? Click on the “i” information icon on the bottom right-hand corner of a pass and there should be an option to delete.
