Simple, natural looking wreaths made of myrtle are adorning doors this year. Williams Sonoma has myrtle wreath letters. You can buy “JOY” or “NOEL” wreaths or choose from all 26 letters to spell the season’s greeting of your choosing. Mistletoe wreaths can also give you this great, natural look.
Metallic shoes add a touch of holiday sparkle to any outfit. Look for heels, flats, even sneakers with a dash of gold, silver or bronze. Or, give an old pair of shoes a glitzy makeover. Tape off the toe area and spray your shoes with metallic paint.

There’s no better way to bring a little whimsy to your holiday table than with a candy centerpiece. Plus, it’s a lot easier to make (and eat) than a gingerbread house. Fill clear vases or apothecary jars with peppermints, gumdrops, chocolate kisses or the candy of your choice.
Cut cooked pancakes with a gingerbread man cutter or invest in a gingerbread man pancake ring if this is a trend that you may make a tradition. They taste great with maple syrup but we saw some good ideas on Pinterest like sweet cider syrup or cheesecake sauce. A heaping stack of gingerbread pancakes will taste pretty darn good no matter what shape they are.
DIY Polka Dot Wrapping Paper
In an effort to be less wasteful and save bucks, many of us are giving DIY wrapping paper a try. This year it’s all about the polka dots. Try one of these two techniques—adding your dots with a pencil eraser and stamp pad or using polka dot stickers.

This is a great way to use your holiday ham leftovers. Load rolls with ham and cheese and place them in a baking dish. Coat and marinate in a sauce like this butter, Worcestershire, Dijon combo from Sunflower Supper Club. Bake for about 15 minutes in an oven set to 350 degrees.
