Editor’s Letter: Spring is About Fresh, New Beginnings

Editor’s Letter: Spring is About Fresh, New Beginnings | thegoodstuff

When I was about 10 years old I was very upset because I had talked back to my parents. I didn’t know how to move past the guilt I felt.  Oh, to be 10 again!

I went to talk to one of our local priests because I thought for sure this was the end for me, and I’ll never forget what he said: “Jeanette, spring begins tomorrow. What better time to make peace and move on than spring. This season is about new thoughts and new beginnings.”

I’ll never forget this conversation, not only because I felt the weight of the world taken off of my little shoulders, but I also felt inspired. Since then, I’ve always thought of spring as a time for renewal. Whether it’s a new personal goal, letting go of something from the past, spring cleaning, or just planting new flowers, it’s all about fresh, new beginnings.

This month, each article on The Good Stuff will offer tips and insight to help inspire you as you formulate your new beginnings. Here are some of my favorite upcoming stories:

  • Easter dinner can be both delicious and affordable. I was challenged to create an Easter dinner for 10 people with a budget of $30 and I’m going to show you how to recreate it in your own home. (And it doesn’t have to be just for Easter dinner!) So, check back because where else will you find the menu for a delicious dinner for three bucks per person?
  • It may be a lesser-known March “holiday,” but National Frozen Food Month means savings in the freezer aisle. Why not take advantage? The Good Stuff is bringing you recipes that will add a twist to basic frozen foods, saving you money and time!
  • I always say eliminating food waste is one of the best ways to save money on groceries. Throughout this month, look for strategies and ideas to use up all of those leftovers. You won’t want to miss some of the creative and tasty meals we came up with.
  • Peak travel months are just around the corner. Book a quick weekend getaway or the trip of a lifetime with our travel tips and deals. We do the research and you get to have the fun!

Here’s to spring and all it has to offer!
