My Favorite Easy Microwave Fudge Recipe
In my family, grandma and the aunts used to set aside an entire weekend for holiday baking and candymaking.
One day for Aunt Paula’s favorite butterflake rolls, another for carrot pudding and layered Jell-O salad. One for divinity and fudge.
After all, each of these favorite family recipes took a full day to prepare. So everyone had to stop their schedule and hit the kitchen if we were to taste those yummy morsels in December!
Growing up, I loved cooking, but I hated spending hours doing it. So, when I got a kitchen of my own, I avoided finicky recipes. Instead, I hunted for easy options…and never made fudge.
That is until I discovered this crazy awesome trick: You can make a quick and simple, works-every-time, microwave fudge recipe with just two ingredients.
It’s true! Melt a bag of chocolate chips, stir in a can of frosting, spread it all in a baking dish, and allow it to cool.
Boom! Homemade fudge in minutes. So yummy and fun, too, because you can mix and match all sorts of flavors and get all sorts of fun, custom twists on your DIY frosting fudge. A few of my faves are:
Oreo fudge: White chocolate chips + vanilla frosting + crushed Oreos
Cherry fudge: White chocolate chips + cherry chip frosting + walnuts
Chocolate brownie fudge: Dark chocolate chips + milk chocolate frosting + chopped brownies
Birthday cake fudge: White chocolate chips + Rainbow Chip frosting + sprinkles
Peanut butter fudge: Peanut butter chips + vanilla frosting + chopped Reese’s cups
S’mores fudge: Dark chocolate chips + chocolate frosting + marshmallows + crushed graham crackers
And if that’s not enough to keep your holidays mighty sweet, here’s one more favorite: Kitchen Sink Microwave Frosting Fudge! A fun combo of all the best stuff: Salty potato chips and pretzels, peanut butter M&M’s and crushed Oreos. What could be tastier?
Give this fun idea a try and let me know how it goes in the comments below. Frosting fudge for the holiday win!
1. Kitchen Sink Microwave Frosting Fudge
Yield: 24 servings
Prep time: 5 minutes
Total time: 35 minutes
• 1 bag semi-sweet chocolate chips
• 1 container Betty Crocker whipped vanilla frosting
• 1/4 cup potato chips, coarsely crushed
• 1/4 cup crushed Oreos
• 1/4 cup mini pretzels
• 1/4 cup peanut butter M&M’s
1. In a microwave-safe bowl, microwave chocolate chips on high in 30-second bursts, stirring between, until melted. Stir in frosting, microwave for 30 seconds more. Stir until smooth.
2. Spread mixture into an 8×8-inch baking dish, spraying with nonstick cooking spray.
3. Press potato chips, Oreos, pretzels, and M&Ms into the top of the fudge.
4. Place in fridge and allow to cool until firm. Refrigerate until ready to serve. For best results, allow fudge to sit out and soften room temperature for 10 minutes before serving.
