This DIY project is inspired by gr8byz on Etsy

One of my favorite things to do when I was little was to count down to Christmas!

My parents bought my brothers and me those $1 advent calendars with the chocolate inside and we’d open them each day. While those were fun, we’d have to throw them away when we were done.

What about a DIY advent calendar you don’t have to throw away? I’ve got a solution for you!

Isn’t this snowman cute?? He’s so happy and excited to countdown to Christmas. Learn how to make him below!

2. To make your hat, you’ll use one of the pine squares and cut one of the long wood rectangles in half using the miter saw.

3. Cut the snowman’s carrot nose out of the other half of the long wood rectangle.

4. Sand the curves in the nose using a Dremel with a sanding bit. Drill a 1/4-inch hole at the end of the nose.

5. This step is optional, but can help your advent calendar sit more flush on the wall! Drill a recess into the back of the clock face with a spade bit. This is so the nut can fit down into recess.

6. Paint your clock face white and spounce light gray paint around one edge. Let dry.

9. Paint the hat pieces black and the nose orange. Add highlights of black to the nose with a liner brush. Let dry.

10. Grab your bolt, washers, and nut. Attach the nose tight enough so you have to push the nose to each individual date. You don’t want it too loose! Paint the bolt orange and let dry.

11. Glue the hat onto the top of the snowman’s head and attach your ribbon and floral accents with a hot glue gun.

12. Display. Your kids will love moving the nose to count down each day to Christmas!
