I get very frustrated in dealing with my electrical cords, especially for my computer and phone. I can’t find them, or when I do they’re in random places, twisted in knots, or even broken!

I take full responsibility for not keeping them nice and neat, and I’ve decided to change my tune this year with this cord organizer DIY!

What excites me about this is these DIY cord organizers are very inexpensive to make. Felt is less than $1 per piece at the craft store, and if you enjoy creating you probably have the other supplies on hand.

Use these simple felt organizers to keep your cords organized. Wrap them and tuck them into a desk drawer or your computer bag to keep them safe. Then when you need one, they’ll be right where you put them!

Cord Organizer DIY

Supplies

• Felt in two colors
Paper template — click here to download it for free!
• Velcro
• Hot glue gun
• Scissors

Directions

Step 1. Using the paper template provided, cut out the large piece from one color of felt, and the smaller piece from a contrasting color.

Step 2. You’ll have two pieces of felt that you’ll layer on top of each other.

Step 3. Add hot glue to the top piece of felt all the way around the perimeter.

Step 4. Smooth down the top piece of felt onto the larger bottom piece.

Step 5. Hot glue Velcro on the back of the larger felt piece as follows:

• One 3/4-inch hook piece (the rougher side) with the center at 3/4 inches from the small end
• One 1 1/2-inch loop piece (the softer side) with the center at 3 1/2 inches from the large end
• One 1-inch hook piece with the center at 1 inch from the large end

Step 6. Hot glue Velcro on the back of the smaller felt piece as follows:

• One 1-inch loop piece with the center at 3 1/2 inches from the small end

Your cord wrap is done!

Step 7. Wrap the cord in your cord organizer as shown in the image above:

1. Roll your cord and place it down on the back side of your cord organizer

2. Fold the small end down and attach the Velcro

3. Roll the cord organizer over once

4. Pull the large end up and attach the Velcro again

Your cord is very secure and the organizer won’t slip off, even in your bag! I had so many cords I made three of these DIY cord organizers in just a matter of minutes. See a quick video below:
