Well, we’re officially halfway through the year! While January seems far behind us, if one of your New Year’s resolutions was to save money, I’ve got you covered.
There are some surprisingly great deals this month on everything from tools for home improvement to doughnuts. Read on to find out just what the best things to buy in June are and keep your savings resolutions going strong!
Keep the savings pouring in by following our year-long best things to buy guide! Bookmark it and save it for later so you’ll always be in the know about when to buy and when to wait!
1. Home improvement & tools
Father’s Day will bring out the sales on all things home improvement and tools. Some will even offer gifts with purchase on tools. If Dad likes to tinker on projects around the house, there will be plenty of deals on what he needs for just about any home improvement project.
Make those projects even more special by seeing if the store offers how to classes. You or your child can join Dad and make it a project for two!
Be sure to save receipts in case an even better sale comes along. Most home improvement stores will give you a price adjustment if the price goes down within a certain period of time.
If Dad’s idea of winding down after a big project is to go out for a beer or cut into a big juicy steak, why not treat him to a meal at one of these restaurants where dads eat free on Father’s Day?
2. Fishing trips
Here’s a fun gift for dad (and the kids, too)! June 4-12 is National Fishing and Boating Week. Find out where in your area you can fish for free and without a fishing license.
Never been fishing before? Part of the fun for kids is picking out a kid-sized fishing pole, lures, and a new tackle box. Bring them on your shopping trip and don’t forget your Cabela’s coupons, too!
3. Paper dishware
Once the graduation parties are over and done, the deals begin! Stock up on paper plates, napkins, and cups for your summer barbecues and picnics. You’ll find deals on both generic and decorative styles. If it’s just for your use, who cares if it says “Congrats Grad!”
Keep your summer BBQ under $50 with our budget barbecue menu!
If you’ve been thinking about going on a cruise, now may be the time. Cruise lines will offer some of the best deals around this time, but be sure to check on what’s included with the price so there are no surprises. It’s also a good idea to ask if you can upgrade for free if you book the lowest rate room.
5. Dairy products
It’s National Diary Month, which means now’s the time to stock up on ice cream for the summer! This day of recognition goes back to 1937 as a way to help promote drinking milk. Fortunately for us, the deals go far past milk and into all things diary.

6. Half yearly sales
As I mentioned already, we’re officially halfway through the year. That means it’s time for “Half Yearly Sales!”
What does this mean? You’ll find some great deals at places like sporting goods stores that have a lot of sales halfway through the year. Plus, check stores like Nordstrom for their Half Yearly Sale (now through June 5), and be sure to look for coupon codes to save even more. This could be a nice way to reward yourself for keeping up with your “get fit” New Year’s resolution!
7. Go nuts for doughnuts
