  2. I was unaware that Christmas Eve was National Eggnog Day – but it just so happens to be a long standing tradition in my husband’s family – and hence ours too. We use what I can only assume is a very old Scottish (or Swedish) recipe which I suspect is not quite as the recipe you have shared here (maybe next year…)

But aside from the pleasure of drinking Eggnog (especially homemade!) it lends itself well to variations and creative concoctions (like cookies, candies, truffles and cream pies.) My husband sometimes likes to gild the lily with a shot of Irish Cream (which would probably mortify some of his older relatives!)

But I’m pleased and a little amused that we just happen to celebrate without even knowing we were in keeping with a fine tradition.

P.S. For those who are rightly and wisely concerned about the raw eggs – we always and only buy organic CAGE-FREE (or NEST) eggs no matter how we are going to use them! So much safe and they taste better too.

  3. we drink a little egg nog each holiday season– but these recipes are great — I really like the cheesecake one so I think we might make this one for New Years– sounds like a nice treat
