4 Manly & Spirited Father’s Day Cocktails

spirited fathers day cocktails

Father’s Day is an occasion to mark and celebrate the contribution that your own father has made to your life. Many people give cards as gifts. But you can show your love by simply spending time with him. Create new memories and relive old ones with a classic, homemade cocktail!

Since we are in the heat of summer we’re presenting four refreshing Father’s Day cocktails that dad will love.  The cocktails below each specify a certain type of rum, but you know your dad better than anyone so feel free to experiment to build a cocktail to his liking.

Cuba Libre

Tools: Tall barspoon
Glass: Highball
Serving: 1 cocktail

Ingredients: 2 oz Bacardi Superior Rum, 4 oz chilled Coca-Cola™ product (we like Coca-Cola Zero because it offers great Coke taste with no sugar), 2 lime wedges, ice cubes

Directions:

Fill a highball glass with cubed ice. Squeeze and drop a fresh lime wedge into the glass. Pour in rum and top with chilled Coca-Cola™. Using a barspoon, stir gently until well mixed. Serve with a straw and enjoy!

Dark & Stormy

dark and stormy cocktail

Tools: Tall barspoon
Glass: Highball
Extras: Lime wedge for garnish
Serving: 1 cocktail

Ingredients: 2 oz Gosling’s Black Seal Rum, 3 oz chilled Ginger Beer (we like Ginger People ginger beer), ice cubes

Directions:

Fill a highball glass with cubed ice. Pour in rum and top with chilled ginger beer. Using a barspoon, stir gently until well mixed. Garnish with a lime wedge or wheel. Serve with a straw and enjoy!

To make a true Dark & Stormy you must use Gosling’s Black Seal Rum. It’s a bartender thing. We recommend ginger beer over ginger ale because the taste is less sweet, has a higher citrus tang and is very gingery. Just what you need to give your dad a memorable summer drink.

If one of these two classic drinks doesn’t suit your father’s fancy and he’s more of a beer or whiskey kind of guy, we’ve got you covered.

Whiskey Sour

Made with a good whiskey (Bourbon is always a good choice) and fresh limes & lemons, this is one classic cocktail that is so well balanced it won’t make you sour.

Beer Shandy

This version takes a refreshing twist on the classic lemonade shandy by using ginger beer instead of ginger ale.
