4 Easy DIY Projects for Fall

Calling all “DIY-challenged” wannabe craft-makers (like me):

Here are some super-easy-but-really-cool DIY projects that involve little to no craft-making skill or experience. (Now that’s what I’m talking about.)

Get down with your crafty self and have a little fun this weekend with these ideas:

msaon jarsCandle holders. Mason jars, decorative glass pebbles, floating candles and twine come together to create a really nice fall-ish glow for your table. You don’t even need a glue gun (though it might be helpful to keep the twine in place).

Pumpkin centerpiece. You can’t get easier than this, and what a beautiful way to add a touch of fall to your table. Buy white pumpkins, encircle them with bittersweet vine and place them along an orange table runner to create a gorgeous center arrangement.

Candy corn wine bottles. These make really cool vases for fall flowers. Get orange, yellow and white spray paint and some old wine bottles (be sure you remove labels, clean off the sticky stuff and dry). First spray the base color of white over the whole bottle, then let it dry. A few coats will give you good coverage. Spray the middle section orange (a few coats should work well here, too), then finish with yellow on the bottom. Be sure to let the paint dry between coats, and voila, in the end, you have a beautifully transformed wine bottle.

Fall-scented sugar scrub. Not only is making your own sugar scrub cost effective, but you can also adjust it to your tastes and preferences. Here’s a recipe for a pumpkin spice latte sugar scrub that’ll remind you of Starbucks’ popular drink. This scrub has a variety of benefits for your skin. The sugars exfoliate while the vitamin e oil and almond oil add moisture.

1 1/2 cups brown sugar
1/2 cup granulated sugar
2 tsp pumpkin pie spice
1 tbsp ground coffee
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 cup Almond oil
1 tsp vitamin e oil

In a large bowl combine brown and white sugar, pumpkin pie spice, cinnamon and ground coffee. In a small bowl, whisk almond oil and vitamin e oil, then pour into sugar mixture. Mix until well and store in an airtight container.

  1. I like to take long soaks in the bathtub with aromatherapy candles that remind me of fall like frankincense. The pumpkin sugar scrub would be a nice addition to me-time!

  2. In the fall I like to enjoy a nice hot cup of coffee on the beach and just walk & breathe in the salt air. It is so quiet and empty I get to enjoy the deer that roam there as well as all the migrating birds. It’s a pure delight

  3. These are the best DIY I’ve seen! The results are spectacular. Perfect to team up with the kids for something not too hard for them. That is what is hard about so many crafts, they require too much skill to hope to do together with others who aren’t as “crafty.”
